Watercolor Basic Lesson Plan

Objectives/Student Outcomes: 

This is a lesson plan to students will learn about watercolor techniques Wet-in-wet & Glazing (mingle opposites to dull primaries). Will be able to identify control paint, brush effects, and added effect and to show ways that artists use watercolor techniques to express their ideas and feelings.

Materials/Supplies:   

Watercolor Paper, watercolors (liquid, solid, crayon or pencils), paintbrushes, water containers.

​Essential Question(s): 

What is your favorite color? What colors do you see in the classroom? What happens when I mix colors? What things might an artist consider when planning a painting? How do artists use colors and texture to express their ideas and feelings?  

 

The world is filled with colors. Artists use paints with many colors and brushes to make texture. Brush strokes make texture with lines, shapes and colors. You can feel a rough or smooth texture.​
